when it’s time to leave
sound sprouts tiny flames

in the canonized dawn
mother outside
bent in the lawn

raking snow from shadows
into sunny spots
until poems decompose

become melodious air
and a forgotten future
hears the fewer out there

where glitch lips declare
into unwound ears
we exist here

on the corner
of Josephine and Gore
spillage of rumpled sunlight
